A new uniform combination I would like to see in 2024

A new uniform combination I would like to see in 2024

Although tradition is the top priority in the football program in Ann Arbor, the Michigan Wolverines have shown in recent years that they are willing to try new uniform combinations. Traditionally, the Wolverines wore the blue top and maize pants at home and a white top and maize pants on the road. That has changed in recent years, and the Wolverines often wear the new, fan-favorite all-blue uniforms at home and all-white uniforms on the road.

Here’s a look at the various alternate combinations we’ve seen on the court during the Jordan era (2016 onwards):

While most fans seem to like the alternatives (aside from the controversial maize color), there is one uniform combination we haven’t seen on the field yet. It’s a combination that pops up from time to time at recruiting photo shoots, and one that would look really good on a fall Saturday at the Big House.

Former UM head coach Jim Harbaugh was willing to explore alternatives and was even involved in changing the shape of the famous wing on the helmet for the 2019 season. Harbaugh also brought back the award stickers when he returned to Ann Arbor in 2015 and changed them from Wolverines stickers to personalized stickers for the players in 2021.

With Sherrone Moore at the helm, it’s clear he’s a big fan of staying true to Michigan traditions – even going so far as to swap out his cap for the narrow M cap made famous by Bo Schembechler that Harbaugh wore during his tenure at Michigan. But Moore also seems like a guy who’s forward-thinking and willing to adapt with the times, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if we see a new uniform combination come the 2024 season.
