Seether release new, defiant song “Judas Mind” and announce ninth album

Seether have just released a new song called “Judas Mind” and announced their upcoming ninth album The surface seems so far away.

The last record by the South African rockers Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum came out in August 2020, so we were in the middle of a global pandemic the last time we heard new material from them. “Judas Mind” is a powerful track to return.

“‘Judas Mind’ is a song about understanding that there are bad actors in our lives trying to force an outcome on us that we don’t see as our destiny,” said frontman Shaun Morgan. “It’s about standing up to people who have a vision for you that you don’t share.”

The fans really seem to like it too.

The surface seems so far away, produced by Morgan and Matt Hyde, will be released on September 20th via Fantasy Records.

Seether, “Judas Mind” lyrics (via AZ Lyrics)

It seems you believe
In words as signs
Your heart is still succumbing
On unspoken fear
And I know some
Are full of courage
But most of the people I know
Will not be selected

But no fear
While the storm blows along here
No, the truth cannot disappoint us
Cannot enslave us
But no fear
While the storm blows along here
No, the truth cannot disappoint us
Cannot enslave

In dreams we escape
Into an unbroken world
And those we hate
Will awaken
And some, I hope
Will die as martyrs
Most iron souls
Will end in a massacre

But no fear
While the storm blows along here
No, the truth cannot disappoint us
Cannot enslave us
But no fear
While the storm blows along here
No, the truth cannot disappoint us
Cannot enslave

Close your eyes
While you surround me with pain
Judas Spirit
When you cheat on me again
take your time
While you surround me with pain
Judas Spirit
When you cheat on me again

But no fear
(Tell me it’s okay, tell me everything’s alright)
While the storm blows along here
(You have designed your shelter to obscure the sunlight)
No, the truth cannot disappoint us
Cannot enslave us
But no fear
(Tell me it’s okay, tell me everything’s alright)
While the storm blows along here
(You have designed your shelter to obscure the sunlight)
No, the truth cannot disappoint us
That doesn’t work

Close your eyes
While you surround me with pain
Judas Spirit
When you cheat on me again
take your time
While you surround me with pain
Judas Spirit
When you cheat on me again
