“We Did It Y’All”: Shaboozey celebrates the top spot of a bar song (Tipsy) in the Billboard Hot 100

Shaboozey’s rise to the top is no ordinary feat. The singer’s new song, A Bar Song (Tipsy), has charted on two Billboard charts, making him history as the second-most Black artist to do so.

Shaboozey is in the spotlight and knows exactly how to celebrate his record-breaking success. He was happy to share his triumph with his fans as he announced the rise of A Bar Song to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on his social media.

Shaboozey thanks fans for the success of A Bar Song

Shaboozey’s latest song, A Bar Song (Tipsy), debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week after topping the Hot Country Songs chart. With his first-ever hit, the 29-year-old singer became one of only two black artists to top both charts simultaneously.

Beyoncé achieved this historic feat for the first time this year with her hit “Texas Hold ‘Em” from her new album “Cowboy Carter”.

A Bar Song (Tipsy) is interpolated with JK Won’s hit song “Tipsy,” which was released exactly a decade ago. This, along with its catchy beats and witty lyrics, may have influenced the song’s explosive success. A Bar Song (Tipsy) is featured on Shaboozey’s new album, “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.”

Shaboozey took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) to celebrate his long-awaited win after dedicating years of his life to music. “WE DID IT, PEOPLE. WE ARE NO. 1. I LOVE Y’ALL,” he proclaimed in the post on Tuesday, July 8. The singer also quoted a lyric from the song, adding, “TAKE A DOUBLE SHOT OF WHISKEY FOR ME!” and wishing everyone “a happy Bar Song Day.”

A Bar Song replaced Beyonce’s Texas Hold ‘Em this week and jumped from No. 6 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It also marks the first time two black artists have topped the charts back to back, according to Billboard.

The Virginia native’s big jump into the Billboard charts came shortly after his collaboration with Beyonce in March. Shaboozey was featured on two of the songs for Queen Bey’s 2024 album Cowboy Carter, namely Spaghetti feat. Linda Martell and Sweet/Honey/Buckin’.

However, the first big break of his career came in 2018 after Shaboozey teamed up with Duckwrth to create the spirited “Start A Riot” soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Shaboozey’s manager reflects on the meaning of his triumph

Shaboozey’s co-manager Jared Cotter shared his thoughts on what the triumph of A Bar Song meant to him and the community. In a new interview with Billboard, Cotter reflected on the evolution of the country music genre and the strides the black community has made in this area.

“It’s a positive sign that times are changing and that country listeners just want great music, no matter who it’s coming from,” he said. The manager also praised Beyoncé for making room for an up-and-coming artist like Shaboozey, which remains a milestone in her career. “The Beyoncé bounce is real!” Cotter exclaimed.

Meanwhile, according to People, Shaboozey revealed that the triumph “feels like a dream” that he expects could be over as soon as he wakes up. That’s definitely a pinch-me moment.
