HAMBURG, DE (CelebrityAccess) – After months of searching, Hamburg’s legendary cultural club Molotow has found a new location – right down the street from its current one. “We are moving to Reeperbahn 136 at the beginning of the year, where the Beatles and the Liverbirds played when it was still the Top Ten Club,” announced Andy Schmidt, the manager of the club.

The building at number 136 currently houses the Moondoo Club, which, according to the Hamburg Cultural Authority, will close on December 31, 2024. The Hamburg Creative Society is to take over the building and rent it to the operator of the Molotow until 2037. The managing director of the Hamburg Creative Society, Egbert Ruehlsaid they wanted to secure the site for long-term club use and create a space for the creative industries.

Shortly before Christmas 2023, the Molotow received an eviction notice from its current landlord because a hotel was to be built at Nobistor. Schmidt said at the time that it was the third time in ten years that the club had to give in to the interests of investors. Under the slogan “The Molotow must stay,” thousands of people demonstrated for the preservation of the cultural institution. And now it seems as if it will stay that way.
