Love Island’s Uma Jammeh breaks her silence on her surprise exit from the villa that left viewers in tears

The last episode of Love Island was certainly a tear-jerking moment for many viewers after one of the show’s most popular contestants dropped out in the middle of a shocking reunion ceremony.

Model and VIP presenter Uma Jammeh – who had been dating construction estimator Wil Anderson for several weeks – was a fan favourite.

It is therefore no surprise that viewers desperate to hear her thoughts on her shock exit from the villa – which aired last night after her partner dumped her – and today she has finally spoken out.

It is not only her courage in the face of the boys that has made 23-year-old Uma so popular with viewers at home in recent weeks, but also her closeness to this year’s contestants, to whom she always offered a shoulder to cry on or an encouraging message when she was given a cake.

Naturally, many fans of the show have developed a close bond with the lovable bombshell, and when it was announced earlier this week that she had left the show early, viewers were completely surprised.

The heartbreaking scenes were broadcast last night. Love Island One viewer admitted on social media: “Uma’s departure brought me to TEARS. I’m embarrassed.”

Another added: “Why would Uma leave like I’m literally crying right now… I can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode because I’m so confused.”

Although her colleagues begged her to stay and end her time on the ITV2 reality series, she has now revealed in a new interview what prompted her to make her decision.

Speaking to ITV producers, she described her departure as “bittersweet” and explained why she felt “instantly” attracted to Wil.

“He was totally committed to me, which I really liked and it was refreshing after the situation with Ayo,” she continued.

“When Wil took me to the other villa for an overnight stay, something clicked and I felt a special spark in that moment that made me realize he was the right one for me.

“That’s why Casa was so hard for me, because it made me miss Wil even more. I feel so comfortable and happy when I’m around him. Seeing him waiting for me after Casa was a very special feeling. I know we had our challenges, but it made us stronger than ever.”

During the Casa Amor segment of the show, Wil allowed himself to be seduced by Scottish newcomer Lucy – and kissed her several times behind Uma’s back – before getting back together with his original girlfriend.

In the days that followed, his antics were exposed – not only by Lucy – but also at the annual “movie night,” where videos of their kissing were shown in front of Uma.

However, after a brief interlude, Wil finally managed to win Uma over… until newcomer Reuben joined the cast earlier this week and chose the Londoner at yesterday’s reunion, leaving Wil single and thus “dumped.”

Uma spoke about her future together with Wil after her split with the following statement: “We can’t wait to just do normal things outside, stay inside, eat takeout and have cute dates.”

“Wil wants to take me to Whitley Bay to show me where he comes from. But we have also talked about him possibly moving to London, so I’m looking forward to our future together with him.

“From here it only goes up.”
