Chris Jericho comments on John Cena’s impending retirement

Jericho shows his affection to Cena.

At WWE’s Money in the Bank Premium Live event, 16-time World Champion John Cena announced that he will retire from the ring in December 2025. At the time of this writing, Cena’s participation in the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 41 is confirmed.

His announcement was made to Chris Jericho during his appearance on McGuire on Wrestling. Here is what Jericho had to say on the matter:

My career has already been longer than John Cena’s (Jericho responded when the interviewer said he’s going to have a career that lasts longer than Cena’s). No, I mean, it’s great. John has always loved wrestling and he has a great connection with the fans, so I think it’s a cool way to approach it. People know that’s what it is, and John is not the type to say anything lightly, so I’m sure he’s been focused on it and working with the company to make sure it’s right, and I’m sure it’s going to be a really great year and a half for Cena fans and for John Cena himself.

Jericho and Cena have shared the ring on numerous occasions on television, house shows and pay-per-views. The last time they shared a ring was at the 2013 Royal Rumble, which Cena won.
