Frank Lebouef criticises Chelsea owner for the way the club is run

Former Blue Frank Lebouef has admitted he is frustrated with the way Chelsea is being run under Todd Boehly, and now his anger is turning to Clearlake Capital.

Despite huge investments in the transfer market, things did not go according to plan on the pitch and the club finished a miserable 12th in the 2022/2023 season before improving to sixth place last season.

Chelsea’s owners have been criticized at times and have already had their fourth permanent coach on board since taking over the club.

Lebouef angry about the way Chelsea is managed

The new owners are trying to do things in a completely different way to what Chelsea are used to and one big change is the club’s changed tactics in the transfer market.

Instead of signing established stars, Chelsea tries to sign the best young talents from around the world in the hope that they will develop into world-class players.

The Blues have now gone two seasons in a row without a Champions League title and without a trophy and new head coach Enzo Maresca is now under pressure to stop this decline.

Lebouef is angry about the way Chelsea is being run.

Leboeuf admitted that his frustration with ownership has now turned to anger and accused his former club of not “thinking differently”.

“As a former Chelsea player, I am frustrated. I still follow all my former clubs and especially Chelsea because something special happened to me and the fans there when I was at the club,” he told BoyleSports.

“My frustration is now turning into anger. Chelsea are changing their manager but they don’t think differently. I try to remain neutral even when Chelsea play Man United but I have to be professional.

“Chelsea simply doesn’t work as a football club and we are becoming a laughing stock to other clubs. We live in the present, not the future. The fans want results and I want results. I don’t want to wait four years to get them.”

Many fans who are unhappy with the direction the club is heading in will likely share Lebouef’s thoughts. The owners really need good results next season to ensure that the relationship between fans and owners does not deteriorate.
