His surprising song choices and singing talent are so impressive that some fans want to know more about him, what he’s doing now, and what songs he can sing when the show moves to the semifinals. Here’s what’s happening to Reid Wilson from America’s Got Talent 2024.

Who is America’s Got Talent Reid Wilson?

Reid Wilson receives the GOLDEN BUZZER for "I don't belong to you" | Audition | AGT 2024

Reid Wilson is a teenage singer who recently started sharing his songs on social media after teaching himself to sing.

Reid posts on Instagram as @its_reidthomas and is still in the early stages of his career. In a post dated June 26, 2024, he shares that he recorded his first song in Los Angeles. He also mentions that his AGT audition took place back on March 23, about four months before his episode aired. Even more impressive, on November 13, 2023, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by singing with Jennifer Hudson on her talk show, where they sang a duet of “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin, one of Reid’s favorite artists.

Reid comes from a supportive musical family. Some fans of another singing competition, The Voice, may recognize his older brother Ryley Tate Wilson, who reached the semifinals of the show in 2023. Ryley was only 15 years old when he performed in the blind auditions, singing “Dancing On My Own” and being put in the chair by all four judges. When you watch Ryley’s audition, you can see Reid Wilson watching from the side and cheering on his older brother, and that experience may have inspired him to audition for AGT 2024. Reid’s Instagram account is also managed by Ryley, so their musical success is a family affair.

Reid has a short but beautiful selection of soulful songs that he has shared primarily on his Instagram account.

These songs include “Praying” by Kesha, “Flower Shops” by ERNEST, “Golden Slumbers” by the Beatles, and “Impossible Dream” by Josh Groban. His brother Ryley has also sung and performed duets with him on “ICU” by Coco Jones and “Call Out My Name” by The Weeknd. In these recordings, Ryley can be seen playing both guitar and piano. Since Reid and Ryley have performed together many times, it’s also possible that we’ll see them as a singing duo in the future.

Reid has a very powerful voice in all the songs he’s sung so far, so we might see some of those in the upcoming live shows of season 19. It’s unclear when exactly Reid will perform in the semifinals, which begin on August 13 and run through September 11. (The two-week delay in the 2024 AGT schedule is due to the 2024 Paris Olympics, as NBC will air Paris in primetime throughout the event.) NBC has not yet announced when each contestant who successfully made it through the auditions will perform, but we expect the full assignments to be announced after the Olympics conclude.

It is possible that Reid will compete against singer Pranysqa Mishra, who is also a Golden Buzzer winner and has sung Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t My Way” in the past. Two other Golden Buzzer-winning singers, Liv Warfield and Richard Goodall, will also make for a strong lineup in the singing category this season. Many other talented singers and singing groups have also made it to the semifinals, including Alex Sampson, boy band Menudo, Filipino singers L6, sibling band The Reklaws and Dee Dee Simon.
