Behind the scenes of Cirque du Soleil show ‘Corteo’ before it comes to So-Flo – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

You know that with Cirque du Soleil you are experiencing a world-class show! 10 out of 10 every time. And for the whole family. But this time from Thursday in Sunrise.

The characters are people, not creatures. And the plot takes an atmospheric turn. You know how Sia sings in her song about swinging from the chandeliers. Well, Cirque said hold my beer, because we can really swing.

Cirque du Soleil flies into the sunrise.

Olaf Triebel: “People are speechless about what is happening.”

Starting this Thursday at the Amerant Bank Arena.

Olaf Triebel: “There is juggling. There are people flying through the air, jumping through the air. And it is simply a feast for the eyes and the ears. We have nine live musicians and two singers.”

With her new show “Corteo”.

Olaf Triebel: “The series “Corteo” is about our main character Mowro, who either dreams of his funeral or experiences it, which sounds sad at first but isn’t. It’s about calling all of his friends from his life, his family, together. Meeting everyone again.”

Alex Miranda: “Well, with such an insightful plot, I feel like I’m coming away with a new understanding of life. Yes? I think so!”

Olaf Triebel: “I hope so! It is definitely Cirque du Soleil’s most theatrical show.”

You think you know Cirque? You’re wrong. The people there are constantly changing things.

Olaf Triebel: “If you look behind me, the stage is really in the middle of the arena, which means people are much closer to the action. And there’s also a bit of the performer’s perspective, because you can see the audience.”

Reinvent the wheel, if you will.

Alex Miranda: “Do you ever hear yourself say things like that and just shut down for a second and think, ‘Wow, my job is crazy.'”

Olaf Triebel: “Yes, it’s definitely crazy. Sometimes you have to confront reality and ask: ‘Is this real? Is this what we do every day?’ But it is what we do every day.”

You can never put Cirque in a box, but you can hang it from the ceiling.

Olaf Triebel: “Actually, there are four girls flying through the air on chandeliers.”

Don’t you think this sentence is crazy? And this one?

Olaf Triebel: “Seeing someone fly over the audience is something you definitely don’t want to miss. And you help that person fly.”

Johan is one of their world-class jugglers.

Johan Juslin: “When I was 10 years old, I saw Cirque du Soleil on TV and the juggler was just incredible. And at that moment I thought: ‘I have to become a juggler.'”

And takes silliness seriously.

Johan Juslin: (juggling)

But are you planning on teaching me? Yeah, no. How about a quick trick?

Johan Juslin: “You like to throw. And you will catch it? Great.”

Alex Miranda: “Oh!”

Johan Juslin: “Throw it back to me. Nice.”

Alex Miranda: “Yes!”

Bring the whole family through July 21. And hey, the circus is happy to be in SoFlo, too.

Olaf Triebel: “On our days off, you’ll definitely see us on the beach and by the sea.”

Tickets start at around $60. Meet-and-greet tickets are also available.
