Black Creek Club shines in CWGA City Team Competition

Black Creek’s A Division gross winners were Meg Buchanan, Ciara Smith, Kate Westbrooks and Jennifer Noonan.

The net winners of the A Division at Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club were Holly Battle, Michele Purchase, Karen Burns and Debbie Durham.

Black Creek’s B Division gross winners were Kathryn Baker, Lindsay Berry, Minette Raborn and Maggie Mauze.

Council Fire’s B Division winners were Lynn McGee, Tami Green, Carlene Ryon and Darlene Werhnyak.

The gross winners of Division C at Valleybrook Golf and Country Club were Shanna Jenkins, Theresa Walter, Mary Jenkins and Karen Carter.

The Chattanooga Golf & Country Club Division C net winners were Debbie Lambert, Pat Wilson, Ellie Mitchell and Pam Schulman.

The Black Creek Club won both the A and B Division flights in the team gross competition on Tuesday when the Chattanooga Women’s Golf Association conducted its City Team Tournament.

The event was held at the Chattanooga Golf & Country Club, where Black Creek’s A-Division team, consisting of Kate Westbrooks, Ciara Smith, Jennifer Noonan and Meg Buchanan, achieved a combined gross score of 8 under 63 in the best ball format.

Westbrooks made five birdies in her round, while Smith led the Black Creek team’s pace with four birdies.

Chattanooga Golf & Country Club finished second in the A Division gross competition with Blakesly Brock, Hannah Holland, Carol Burns and Mattie Nall combining for a 4-under 67.

In the Team Net competition, Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club won the A Division with a score of 13 under par, narrowly beating Black Creek by a single stroke. Members of the winning team were Holly Battle, Debbie Durham, Karen Burns and Michele Purchase.

The quartet of Maggie Mauze, Minette Raborn, Lindsay Berry and Kathryne Baker won the gross competition for Black Creek in the B Division with a score of 1 over par. The Council Fire team of Tami Green, Carlene Ryon, Darlene Werhnyak and Lynn McGee were the net winners with a score of 9 under par, as the same team cannot win both competitions within the same division.

Valleybrook Golf and Country Club took the Division C gross title at 7 strokes over par behind team members Theresa Walter, Karen Carter, Mary Jenkins and Shanna Jenkins. Chattanooga Golf and Country Club was declared the Division C net winner at 8 strokes under par behind Pat Wilson, Debbie Lambert, Ellie Mitchell and Pam Schulman.

The CWGA City Individual Championship will take place next week with a 36-hole event with 60 participants on the legendary Riverview course.
