Is the Drake curse real? Taylor Swift fans know the answer is no

Is the Drake curse real? Taylor Swift fans know the answer is no

It’s been a rough few months for Drake. Look at Kendrick Lamar.

And the bad luck continued when he bet $300,000 on his underdogThe Canadian men’s national soccer team will face the clear favorites from their home country, the Argentine national soccer team, led by Lionel Messi.

It was just “Messi” for Drake as Canada lost 2-0. (And in his defense, Canada was a huge underdog. If he had somehow pulled off the miracle, he would have won nearly $2.9 million.)

Naturally, social media poked fun at the extremely wealthy rapper and business tycoon, accusing him of the Drake curse. As it turns out, these accusations were greatly exaggerated.

Drake probably put in a massive $1.1 million bet. Or maybe not. He’s rich.

Regardless, he had posted on Instagram“I can’t bet against the Swifties.”

And it paid off, because the rapper rejoiced after the exciting game in which the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25:22.

Lionel Messi and Argentina also paid generously for the 37-year-old player from Toronto.

Another game he won with great effort as Kylian Mbappé and the French national team made a heroic comeback before losing on penalties.

Bet: $1 million

Payout: $2.75 million

Stake: $600,000

Payout: $906,000

So that probably stung a little, especially because it looked like the Edmonton Oilers might be able to make a historic comeback against the Florida Panthers, coming back from a 3-0 deficit and making it to the decisive Game 7.

Oh…

Bet: $1 million

Loss: Pride

There were also the 2016 NBA Finals, when he lost $60,000 to his fellow rapper French Montana, who prefers the Golden State Warriors to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

And there are probably a few others we counted wrong. But in the end, Drake seems to be like most bettors. He generally comes in at about half or loses a few coins, or in some cases, bitcoins.

The rapper and mogul is simply exposing himself to public scrutiny by revealing the bets he has placed, which is his right.

And in this latest example, we’re not talking about the feud with Kendrick Lamar. That’s worth $300,000.
