Today we have tragic news: Jon Bonjovi’s mother, Carol Bonjovi, has passed away. She was 83 years old. She breathed her last on Tuesday (July 9) at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Beach, New Jersey. Read her son’s statement after her death.

Jon Bon Jovi releases statement on the death of his mother

The Never Say Goodbye singer issued a statement to People, saying, “Our mother was a force to be reckoned with. Her spirit and can-do attitude left its mark on this family. She will be greatly missed.”

According to the release, Carol leaves behind her husband, three children Jon, Anthony and Matthew and their wives Dorothea, Nina Yang and Desiree. Carol also leaves behind her eight grandchildren.

Carol was a successful businesswoman with many ventures. She was also the founder of her son’s eponymous band’s fan club. The Playboy bunny from Erie, Pennsylvania, joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1959, where she served her country with honor and met her future husband, John Bonjovi Sr.

The couple moved to Sayreville, NJ, where they both raised their children. They later moved and settled in Homedel, NJ, where she lived until her death.

Jon Bon Jovi’s parents supported him in his craft

Speaking to The Big Issue in 2020, the musician spoke at length about the support his parents gave him in his craft.

He said that if you believe you are good at something, you can work at it even if you are not. He added that as he grew older, he realized that this belief was a great gift from his parents.

He added: “They really believed in John F. Kennedy’s mantra of going to the moon. ‘Yes, of course you can go to the moon. Just go, Johnny.’ And so I went.” The legendary singer recalled the time when his parents allowed him to perform at age 17.

Jon went on to say that his parents were always supportive. The Blaze Of Glory singer said that although he could be home at one or two in the morning, he still had to get up at eight to go to school.

His parents told him to be on time at school because it was his responsibility, but he also wanted to pursue his dream.
