R&B artist Jhené Aiko has tour bus stop in Tallahassee

Traveling from Sunrise, one of two Florida stops on her “The Magic Hour” tour, R&B singer, songwriter and rapper Jhene Aiko graced Tallahassee with her presence for a magical moment of her own.

Often described as fairytale-like due to her use of singing bowls to create enchanting melodies, the California-based singer is widely known for her sensual and thoughtful R&B songs that allude to her personal trials and triumphs in relationships and the journey of self-discovery, particularly with her long-term partner, rapper Big Sean.

According to posts on the Facebook social media group “Living Tallahassee,” the 2020 iHeartRadio Music Award winner for R&B Album of the Year was on her tour bus en route to her next stop in Houston, Texas, where she was scheduled to perform a concert on July 10. Before reaching her next destination, she made a few quick stops in Florida’s capital.

Some of the lucky shops she was spotted at include Clean Eatz and Tallulah, the women-owned and locally operated shops that offer CBD, mushrooms and THC. She stopped by the Railroad Avenue and Midtown locations.

The singer has openly expressed her appreciation and use of these products in songs such as “Sativa,” “Spotless Mind,” “Tryna Smoke,” and others, alluding to their ability to enhance her creativity and consciousness.

Fans browsing the stores at the right moment took photos and had brief conversations with the artist, who was disguised while shopping but easily recognized as he wore a “Family Guy” T-shirt featuring the character Stewie Griffin and a camouflage cowgirl hat.

Those who were lucky enough to meet her described her as the “sweetest.” Zach Young, a store clerk at Tallulah’s Railroad Avenue location, described her as “cool.”

Tallulah owner Ashley Guy said the singer unexpectedly stopped by the Midtown stores first with her security guard to purchase gifts for her tour companions before heading to the Railroad Avenue location, where she leisurely browsed for more items for five to 10 minutes.

Young said he and the rest of the team kept their cool while enjoying the star’s brief visit.

It didn’t take long for fans to react to social media posts about the singer’s unannounced appearances in the capital. Even those who weren’t there shared their disappointment in their comments. One user commented: “Oh my god I would have loved to see her!” Another wrote: “I’m sooo jealous! I usually come to your locations… the one time I don’t, I miss her.”

Aiko has 16 stops left on her tour after concluding her Florida shows with performances in Orlando and Sunrise.
