Missing Michigan mother and baby found alive on South Texas ranch

US Border Patrol agents found the mother and child barefoot on a ranch in Webb County on Saturday. Four days earlier, on July 3, they had been reported missing in Wyoming, Michigan.

U.S. Border Patrol officials have found a Michigan mother and her baby on a ranch in southern Texas, four days after they were reported missing about 1,500 miles away.

Border agents from Laredo found the mother and child barefoot on a ranch in Webb County on Saturday, the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.

According to the sheriff’s office, border patrol agents identified the Michigan woman, who was reported missing along with her child on July 3, using her state driver’s license.

The couple was evacuated to safety and received medical treatment at a local hospital before being turned over by Border Patrol to the Sheriff’s Office.

Mother says she ran out of gas on trip to South Padre Island

The woman told officers that she ran out of gas while driving to South Padre Island, a city off the southern coast of Texas.

Border Patrol officials confirmed that she was the mother who had been reported missing in Wyoming, Michigan, just outside Grand Rapids.

Vanessa and the baby were examined at a local hospital and returned to her family in Michigan.

“I thank the U.S. Border Patrol for their quick response and commend my deputies for their efforts in coordinating with the woman’s family to ensure her safety and that of her baby,” Sheriff Martin Cuellar said in a press release.

He said the case serves as a reminder to “stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.”
