Taylor Swift sings Joe Jonas breakup anthem “Last Kiss” on Eras Tour

Taylor Swift sings Joe Jonas breakup anthem “Last Kiss” on Eras Tour

Taylor Swift performed the breakup ballad “Last Kiss” – presumably by Joe Jonas – in her performance on the 113th Eras Tour on Tuesday evening in Zurich, Switzerland.

The 34-year-old pop star performed the song “Speak Now” in a piano mashup with the “Red” breakup anthem “Sad Beautiful Tragic” during the acoustic portion of her concert.

Although Swift’s breakup with Joe Jonas as a teenager was a long time ago, she probably chose the song because the lyrics mention Tuesday’s date: July 9th.

“I remember now the smell of the rain, fresh on the pavement, I ran off the plane / That 9th of July, the beat of your heart / It jumps through your shirt, I can still feel your arms,” the lyrics whisper.

She performed the song last year on July 8th in Kansas City, Mississippi, since there was no show on July 9th.

The 34-year-old singer of the “Karma” band and the member of the Jonas Brothers were together for a few months since 2008 before their relationship fell apart.

Swift infamously attacked her ex during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in November 2008, when she suggested in a brief phone call that he had broken her heart.

“One day I’m going to find someone who is really, really, really great and is right for me… When I find the right person for me, they’re going to be wonderful and when I look at that person, I won’t even remember the boy who broke up with me in 25 seconds on the phone when I was 18,” she joked.

The following year, the JoBros released the track “Much Better” with their album “Lines, Vines and Trying Times”.

The song seemed to be a reaction to the breakup, as the lyrics read, “Now I’m done with superstars / And all the tears on her guitar.”

One of Swift’s earliest hits is, of course, “Teardrops on My Guitar” – the second single from her debut album.

However, Swift revisited Ellen in 2019 and admitted that challenging Jonas was “too much.”

“We laugh about it now, but it was a cheeky boast… just teenage stuff,” she added.

The “Cake by the Ocean” singer appeared with his brothers on ITV’s “Lorraine” that same year and said it was “nice” to hear Swift express remorse over the public smackdown.

And while a performance in 2022 In Las Vegas, Jonas changed the lyrics of “Much Better” to “Now I’m cool with superstars,” showing that they didn’t think the argument was necessary.

Swift even became friends with Sophie Turner when she married her ex in 2019 – and may have been referring to her first child in her 2020 “Folklore” track “Invisible String,” in which she sings, “Cold was the steel of my axe for grinding / For the boys who broke my heart / Now I send their babies presents.”

She also provided Turner with accommodation in New York City when news of her and Jonas’ divorce broke in September 2023.

Additionally, the 28-year-old actress attended Swift’s Eras Tour in London last month with her boyfriend Travis Kelce and others.

Although Swift confirmed that she will officially end her record-breaking tour in December, Jonas still has plenty of time to see a show before then.
