CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Liberty and Chambers Counties is pleased to announce a generous donation of $1,000 from the Liberty Lions Club. This special contribution supports CASA’s mission of ensuring the well-being of children in foster care.

CASA of Liberty and Chambers Counties operates under an agreement with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and the 2nd Region Child Protection Court. Through preparatory training and ongoing support, CASA prepares citizen volunteers to serve as sworn court officers. These “advocates” are responsible for ensuring that each child’s needs are met throughout the legal process. Their role is not just advisory, but transformative, as they provide judges with important information and make recommendations for the best interests of the children in decisions affecting the lives of children in foster care.

“This month is the 15th.th anniversary of local service to our program,” said Kimberly Stephens, executive director of CASA of Liberty and Chambers Counties. “The dedication and intervention of CASA advocates has made a profound difference in the lives of countless children and families, ensuring they receive the support and resources they need to thrive. With this donation from the Lions Club, our program will continue to serve all children who have been removed from their families due to abuse or neglect.” CASA of Liberty & Chambers Counties currently serves 100 percent of families with open guardianship cases in the Liberty and Chambers County courts.

Liberty Lions Club funds are used to support CASA’s programs, including:

  • Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers: Ensuring that community volunteers are well prepared to advocate for the well-being of children.
  • Child Advocacy: Each child is assigned a dedicated advocate who will support them throughout the case.
  • Shared family engagement: Ensuring that every family affected by foster care has the opportunity to build and maintain lifelong bonds.
  • Fostering Futures: guiding and supporting young people in their transition years to adulthood.
  • Trauma care: Educating community members, service providers, and caregivers about the impact of childhood trauma and strategies to promote healing.

The Lions Club’s donation is a testament to its commitment to making a positive impact on the community by helping at-risk children in foster care find stability and safety.
