Will Smith speaks out about his decision to release a gospel song – Music News

Will Smith has discussed his entry into the world of Christian/Gospel music following the release of his song “You Can Make It.”

The Oscar-winning star may be best known for his acting skills, but he has had a musical career since the 1990s.

His hits include the pop songs Gettin’ Jiggy wit It, Wild Wild West and the RnB hit Just The Two Of Us.

Now Will has turned his attention to gospel music and explained that he felt compelled to participate in the writing of the new song, and hinted that he will be doing more songs with a Christian twist in the near future.

He told Billboard: “I’ve really been talking to myself. Seeing that so many people share this intention gives me a clear guiding light for the next chapter of my creative life.”

The song features the Fridayy and Sunday Service Choir and has already reached number 3 on the Hot Gospel Songs charts in the USA.

The “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” star sang the single last month at the 2024 BET Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles – with the Sunday Service Choir onstage.

When Will first announced the song last month, he said on Instagram: “In some of my darkest moments, music has always been there for me – to lift me up and help me grow.”

“It is my humble wish that it can do the same for you and bring you all the joy and light you deserve.”
