Michigan DNR auctions 91 properties

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is auctioning off nearly 100 properties across the state.

The 91 properties include lots of all sizes, from under one acre to 160 acres, some with lake or riverfront lots.


Lakefront properties up for auction include a 1.1-acre lot in Chippewa County with 200 feet of frontage on Trout Lake and a 0.17-acre lot with 65 feet of water frontage on Seminole Lake in Otsego County.

For those looking for large properties, the DNR is auctioning off an 80-acre undeveloped forest lot in Grand Traverse County and a 39-acre forest lot in Eaton County.

The properties are will be auctioned online from August 2nd, the DNR said in a press release.

The company said the sale of surplus land was part of its public lands strategy.

“Proceeds from the auction will be reinvested in the acquisition of important lands for the public to create future outdoor recreation opportunities, consistent with the DNR’s mission to preserve, protect and manage the state’s natural and cultural resources for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations,” the press release said.

The DNR 95 surplus properties auctioned last year.
