Brendan Gleeson has joined the cast of Amazon’s upcoming Spider-Man Noir series. diversity learned from sources.

This is one of Gleeson’s first announced projects since his Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated performance in The Banshees of Inisherin. The series, now titled Spider-Noir, has been officially ordered for May with Cage in the lead role. As previously reported, the series will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel and then globally on Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon declined to comment on Gleeson’s casting.

He is represented by CAA, The Agency and Principle Entertainment.

They developed the series with the Into the Spider-Verse team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, who will all also serve as executive producers. Harry Bradbeer will executive produce and direct the first two episodes. Pascal is an executive producer at Pascal Pictures. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, with Lord and Miller currently under an overall deal with Sony.

The first was “Silk: Spider Society,” which was originally greenlit for a 2022 release, but in May it was reported that the show would not move forward at Amazon.
