Justin Timberlake’s lawyer speaks out and promises to defend the “Mirrors” singer following his arrest for alleged drunk driving in New York’s Hamptons this week.

“I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations,” attorney Edward Burke Jr. said in a statement obtained by HuffPost. “He will have much to say at the appropriate time.”

The 43-year-old singer-songwriter was taken into custody early Tuesday after his car was stopped in Sag Harbor on the eastern end of Long Island for allegedly running a stop sign and failing to maintain his lane.

A video obtained by Fox News is said to show him driving his BMW SUV through the village shortly before his arrest.

The arresting officer said Timberlake smelled of alcohol, had “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and failed a breathalyzer test, according to court documents obtained by CNN.

“His speech was slow, he was unsteady on his feet and his performance on all standardized sobriety tests was poor,” the officer said.

Timberlake, who was on trial for drunk driving, said he “drank a martini,” according to court documents.

The ten-time Grammy winner was between shows on his “Forget Tomorrow” world tour, which kicked off in April. He is scheduled to perform in Chicago on Friday and will return to New York on June 25 and 26 to perform at Madison Square Garden.

His next court date is July 26, when he is scheduled to appear in Krakow, Poland. Burke told The Associated Press that Timberlake will not have to appear in person at the court date.

Burke, whose office declined to comment further when asked by HuffPost on Thursday, has represented other celebrities who have had run-ins with police in the Long Island area. He previously represented former NASCAR CEO Brian France, who was arrested while intoxicated for disregarding a stop sign in Sag Harbor in 2018. France pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and alcohol counseling.

Timberlake has previously spoken about how alcohol was becoming too much for him.

After being photographed holding hands with a female co-star in a New Orleans bar during filming of the 2019 movie “Palmer,” he issued a statement saying his behavior was not the example he wanted to set for his son. Timberlake has since had another son with actress Jessica Biel, whom he married in 2012.

“I drank far too much that night and I regret my behavior,” he said.
