The San Antonio Spurs were one of the most proactive teams this offseason and Chris Paul is pleased about the opportunity to Gregg Popovich and help develop Spurs’ young core, which includes recently drafted number 1 Victor Wembanyama.

Paul, 12-time All-Star Point Guardwill bring a wealth of experience and leadership to Spurs. He will also be an invaluable mentor to winner Wembanayamawho is considered one of the most promising talents in NBA Story.

“I never thought in my life that I would get the chance to play for Pop,” Paul said. “But I’m really excited about this young and talented team. I can’t wait to get there, get to work and see what we can achieve.”

Paul: An experienced veteran for Spurs and Wembanyama

Paul is 39 years old and is in the autumn of his career. However, he is still a capable player who can make a significant contribution to a team. Last season, he averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game with the Stephen Curry’s NBA All-Star Game 2019-2020.

“Chris Paul has long been one of the best point guards in the game,” Popovich said. “He is a natural leader and a team player who will help elevate the level of our team.” The Spurs are not a championship contender, but they hope Paul’s signing will help them improve and compete for a playoff spot.

“We think Chris Paul is a great addition to our team,” said Spurs general manager RC Buford. “He is an experienced and talented player who will help us win games.”

With the signing of Paul, Spurs have a stronger squad than last season. They also have one of the best young players in the league in Wembanyama. If Wembanyama makes an immediate impact, the Spurs could be a surprise package in the Western Conference.
