Taylor Swift breakup anthems in Zurich

Taylor Swift sang two mashups of breakup anthems on the first night of her two shows in Zurich, including the song that mentions July 9th.

“I wanted to come here and hang out with you guys because you guys have been crazy all night,” Swift said from the other end of her massive runway, opening the acoustic set of her 113th show of the Eras Tour.

Her favorite number is 13, she said. “I thought, since that’s my favorite number, I would just play some of my favorite songs for the acoustic part.”

The singer, dressed in orange, played “Right Where You Left Me” from “Evermore” and “All You Had to Do Was Stay” from “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” on the guitar. The sold-out Letzigrund Stadium sang along to the slow melodies.

Swift performed in an open-roof stadium where temperatures reached 30 degrees earlier in the day. During “All Too Well,” she asked fans for help and security handed out water bottles. Swift has frequently stopped her show in Europe to ask fans for help.

When Swift finished the guitar mashup, she put down her guitar and went to the piano.

“Happy 9th of July to all who celebrate,” she said before playing the keys to “Last Kiss” from “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” which mentions the date: “This 9th of July, the beat of your heart.” Swift paired it with “Sad Beautiful Tragic” from “Red (Taylor’s Version).”

A year ago, she played “Last Kiss” on guitar in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 8, because that concert day was closest to July 9.
