Rating report: Scottish Open | Establishing the run

I won’t deny that I much prefer to see golfers trying to fight for par with single-digit winning scores than a do-or-die birdie rush, but there is something to be said for the absolute peak performance that the pros bring to the table when they play at TPC Deere Run. Davis Thompson was incredible from start to finish and the John Deere Classic is the perfect springboard for him to take his game to the next level. It was also amazing to see the flag planted last week, Luke Clantoncontinues its campaign against the exemptions granted by its sponsors, demonstrating once again that the gap between the top amateur golfers and the members of the PGA Tour is narrowing by the day.

What a disappointing week it was for the Value reportas I had such high hopes that the John Deere would maintain the momentum we had from the Rocket Mortgage Classic. I had a lot of questions going through my mind about the results, and I think there is no doubt a higher expectation that there will be chaos/disappointment when the fields are this weak, as player results are so varied in this price bracket. At the same time, I still believe that we can get high-end finishes quicker at events like the John Deere Classic, as the high-priced players in these types of fields also have their weaknesses. But no excuses when it comes to a result like this – let’s face reality.
