Taco Bell’s famous beef recipe revealed and surprises customers

Taco Bell’s famous beef recipe revealed and surprises customers

Even Taco Bell celebrates with burritos

Taco Bell customers were surprised to see how much beef was actually included in the takeaway menu recipe.

Taco Bell claims that its seasoned beef is 100% USDA premium beef, but that’s actually not the case.

According to the website, after simmering, the beef is trimmed of excess fat and pre-seasoned with a special blend of seven authentic spices and seasonings. It is then packed with additional water to preserve flavor and provide additional moisture, and then shipped to restaurants.

However, it turns out that the non-beef components of the beef at Taco Bell consist mainly of seasonings and binders, making it relatively standardized.

We’re not sure why this is, but Taco Bell still has one of the lowest prices of any fast food chain.

Taco Bell shocked customers

In 2014, Taco Bell assured customers that all of its additives were FDA approved. The company even went through the FDA to describe the purpose of each one. One example is maltodextrin, which is nothing more than a form of sugar.

“I hope it’s not 100% beef because I’m not sure I would agree with the type of process that makes beef taste so seasoned,” revealed one commenter.

“You’re right, I’m absolutely shocked, 88% is more beef than I thought was in there,” wrote another.

This is not the first surprise, however. In June, it emerged that McDonald’s burgers were not selling as well as some other products.

“We really need to keep an eye on some of these changes in protein consumption. We have seen this change. When we launched our brand in 1955, we didn’t have a chicken sandwich. Today, as a brand, we sell more chicken than beef,” the fast-food giant said.

“People are very slow to change their eating habits over time. So yes, we are seeing these slow changes over time. I think part of it is due to affordability… we know that chicken is less expensive to produce and so for a consumer looking for more affordable food, chicken is a great option right now.”
