Taylor Swift praises Eras tour audience at her first ever show in Wales

Taylor Swift has nothing but love for her fans in Cardiff!

Following the final stop of her record-breaking Eras tour in Wales on Tuesday, June 18, the 34-year-old singer praised the audience for their enthusiasm at the show in an Instagram post.

“Cardiff!! My first gig in Wales and it was truly out of control in the best way – looking at this huge, jumping, dancing sea of people,” wrote the artist. “I’ll never forget it. I absolutely live for these British crowds.”

Swift’s Cardiff concert is the last of her European tour de force, after she began the European leg of the Eras Tour in May with several setlist and costume changes at a four-date show in Paris. (She wore a red and yellow Chiefs two-piece when her boyfriend and football star Travis Kelce supported her in the crowd on the fourth night in Paris.)

During the Cardiff show – the 103rd since the Eras Tour began in March 2023 – Swift treated her fans to a unique combination of songs during her acoustic set, the part of the show where she often plays one song on guitar and another on piano, which varies at each concert date.

“I try to challenge myself by just doing different things every night,” Swift told the cheering crowd before performing a guitar medley of Lover Title “I Forgot That You Existed” and Call“That’s why we can’t have nice things.”

Attentive fans quickly took to social media to spread the theory that the superstar chose the two songs – which are full of casually shady lyrics like “Why’d you have to ruin my mood?” and the satirical “Forgiveness is a nice thing,” followed by a long laugh – as a deliberate nod to her longtime nemesis Scooter Braun, who celebrated his birthday on the day of the show.

She ended the acoustic set with a Department for tortured poets Bonus track: “I Hate It Here.” (“This is a song I’ve never played live before,” the singer told the audience. “Wish me luck!”)

It is probably no coincidence that Swift chose the track folklore“The Lakes” refers in particular to the English Lake District, which is not far from the venue of their concert, as well as to the famous 19th-century English poet, William Wordsworth.

This weekend, Swift will bring the Eras Tour to a city long immortalized in her discography – London. As for songs mentioning the English capital to treat the audience to, she has plenty to choose from (“So Long, London,” “London Boy,” “Come Back…Be Here,” and “The Black Dog,” to name a few!)

“Next up: our weekend at Wembley!!” Swift concluded her Instagram post. “See you tomorrow, London! 🇬🇧 🤍”
