Flood warning issued for most of southeast Michigan as remnants of Beryl move in

(CBS) – A flood warning has been issued for most of southeast Michigan as the remnants of Hurricane Beryl will bring heavy rains for most of the day Wednesday.

The flood warning is in effect for Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

As Beryl made landfall, it weakened over Texas and Arkansas. Now the remnant of this powerful storm is approaching Michigan.

Most parts of Michigan will see rain on and off throughout the day Wednesday, with some areas likely to see between 2 and 4 inches of rain by Thursday morning.

There is a chance of 120mm of rain in some areas as the remnants of Beryl bring heavy downpours. Localised flooding will be the biggest concern with this system, but there is no threat of strong winds.

As tropical moisture collides with a front stuck over Michigan, the chance of rain will be 100%.

By Thursday afternoon, the rain will mostly stop and the remnants of Beryl will move away.

Sunny skies and plenty of warmth can be expected through the weekend, with maximum temperatures reaching just under 32 degrees.
