Will Ospreay on the WWE entrance song that changed his life

Will Ospreay has eclectic tastes in music, but his passion for wrestling is as great as his affection for his favorite songs.

Speak with KerrangThe Billy Goat listed ten different songs that changed his life, and you can be sure that one of them was a classic pro wrestling entrance song.

Along with ABBA, Oasis, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, Will Ospreay named Jim Johnston’s “I Won’t Do What You Tell Me” as the song that reminded him of his “first love,” and that love happened to be the one true sport. In case you don’t know the song titles, “I Won’t Do What You Tell Me” is the theme by Stone Cold Steve Austin. Ospreay explains why he chose Austin’s infamous song, which begins with breaking glass.

“When I first heard the glass break as a kid and saw the crowd go crazy when this guy just ran to the ring and beat everyone up, I was like, ‘Oh, wow, wrestling is cool!’ I don’t remember when I first heard that song, but it was during the Austin vs. McMahon era. I’ll always remember that time in 2001 when (the old) WWF bought WCW (with the Invasion storyline that followed) and Austin was a big part of that.”

Austin’s theme has already been mentioned and is said to be inspired by “Bulls On Parade” by Rage Against The Machine. It’s arguably one of the best wrestling entrance songs of all time. To his credit, Ospreay has a pretty catchy song of his own in AEW that cultivates that football chant mentality.

In the interview, Ospreay said that Oasis’ “Live Forever” is a song that gets him excited for the wrestling ring. Funnily enough, he was inspired by seeing Oasis perform at Wembley, which he did in 2023 and plans to do in 2024.
