The woman was identified by her Michigan driver’s license. She stated that she ran out of gas on the way to South Padre Island.

Authorities confirmed that the woman was reported missing to police in Wyoming, Michigan, near Grand Rapids, on July 3.

Mother and baby were taken to a local hospital and returned to Michigan by family members.

“I thank the U.S. Border Patrol for their quick response and commend my deputies for their efforts in working with the woman’s family to ensure her safety and that of her baby,” said Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “This serves as a reminder to everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to 956-415-BUST (2878).”
