Boat tour company offers dog-friendly cruises

DOWNTOWN – Thanks to a local boat tour company, you don’t have to leave your dog at home the next time you explore Chicago’s waterways.

Mercury, Chicago’s Skyline Cruiseline, is launching its popular dog cruise series on Saturday. Dog-friendly cruises will be offered every weekend through October 13.

Cruises depart Saturdays and Sundays at 11:15 a.m. from Mercury’s Perch on the Riverwalk, 112 E. Wacker Drive.

On this tour, you’ll experience the Chicago skyline from the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. Guides will point out the downtown skyscrapers and provide details about each building or landmark, as well as fun facts about dogs and dog-friendly places.

Dogs can sit on your lap, on a seat or on the deck. The cruise ship offers safe outdoor seating and water bowls for pets, according to the company.

Ticket prices start at $42 for adults, $19 for children ages 5-15, and $10 per dog. Children under 5 ride free. Priority boarding costs $47 for adults and $24 for children.

In October, the Howl-O-Ween Canine Cruise will feature pumpkin dog treats and prizes for best costumes.
