ORLANDO, Florida. – A large high pressure system will continue to break down throughout the day, while a mid-level low pressure system over the western Atlantic will move closer to Florida, and the Orlando area will experience stormier conditions for another afternoon.

A stronger westerly wind is forecast to bring high chances of rain in the east of the state, with the chance of rain reaching 60-70% from Tuesday afternoon. Isolated to numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop, moving towards the coast in the evening hours.

TUESDAY: CHANCE OF RAIN

Since the storm movement is expected to be small, the greatest danger is the risk of further flooding and gusty winds (65-80 km/h).

Since it started raining earlier on Tuesday afternoon, maximum temperatures are expected to remain just above 35 degrees Celsius, but the “feel” temperatures will reach up to 40 degrees Celsius.

TUESDAY HEAT INDEX

Most models show a gradual decrease in storm coverage through Wednesday and the weekend as drier air moves across the region. Inland areas are still expected to see daily storms (50-60%), with activity tapering off by sunset.

Less rain and clouds mean hotter weather over the weekend, with highs in the 35s and 35s and a heat index rising back up to 43s. Depending on humidity, heat warnings could be issued by then.

TROPICAL UPDATE TUESDAY

After an eventful start to July in the tropics, during which Beryl developed into a record-breaking hurricane, a slight lull in the tropics is expected for the next seven days. There is still a lot of Saharan dust floating over the tropical Atlantic, which is inhibiting any significant tropical development.
