Webber gets back into the Red Bull F1 car for world-famous event

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is always full of stars and amazing cars, and this weekend’s event is no exception, with an impressive list of the stars of world motorsport in attendance.

Mark Webber, ‘Aussie Grit’ himself, will be back in the cockpit of a Red Bull Formula 1 car this weekend, jumping into a 2010 Red Bull RB6. However, with Red Bull Racing listed as an entrant, we’re pretty sure it’s not the car that belongs to him.

He owns the RB6 with chassis number 03, the car with which he won the British Grand Prix and the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2010. Webber spoke to us about acquiring this chassis here on the V8 Sleuth Podcast 2019.

Three-time and reigning Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen will head to the mountains on Sunday at the wheel of his title-winning Red Bull RB16B. He will be joined by two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, who will drive a new Aston Martin Valiant on Friday.

1998 and 1999 World Champion Mika Häkkinen will drive the McLaren Solus GT that won last year’s Timed Shootout, and 1996 World Champion Damon Hill will drive a 1975 Shadow F1 car.

Emerson Fittipaldi will return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in his title-winning McLaren M23 and numerous current and former F1 drivers will also take part in the event.

Sergio Perez will drive a Red Bull RB18 and Daniel Ricciardo the RB7, with which he won the championship in 2011. David Coulthard will drive an RB9.

Juan Pablo Montoya will drive a 2004 Williams FW26-BMW and Red Bull team boss and former F3000 racer Christian Horner will drive an RB8.

In fact, in addition to the cars on the track and the static exhibits, every Red Bull F1 model – from the RB1 of 2005 to the RB19 of 2023 – will be on display at the Goodwood event.

The Williams duo Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant will share the driving duties in the FW08 of Keke Rosberg, the 1982 champion.

Bruno Senna will drive Uncle Ayrton’s McLaren MP4/4 and Jack Doohan will compete in a 2012 Lotus E20 F1, part of the history of the Enstone F1 team, now called Alpine. His father Mick, world champion, will also be there, driving a 1998 Honda NSR500V.

NASCAR legend Richard Petty will also be honored at Goodwood this year: the seven-time champion will be the star on all four days of the event, which runs from Thursday, July 11 to Sunday, July 14.

There are a wealth of fantastic cars and names entered for Goodwood. The full entry list can be viewed here on the Goodwood Festival of Speed website.
