Emma Roberts reveals very famous family members have ‘lost acting jobs’ and it’s not just her aunt

Emma Roberts has admitted that she has actually lost her job in the past because of famous family members.

Because of the whole “Nepo baby” debate, you might think that having famous relatives would be beneficial to your career – especially if you’re in the same industry.

The term “Nepo Baby” implies that the child’s success is directly linked to that of his relatives due to his connections within the industry.

But according to 33-year-old Emma, she has actually “lost more jobs than she has gained.”

In case you missed it, Emma’s aunt is none other than *the* Julia Roberts and her father is actor Eric Roberts.

Eric’s wife is casting director Eliza Roberts, and her parents are the late screenwriters David Rayfiel and Lila Garrett.

Emma, 33, began her career in 2001 when she appeared in the Nickelodeon show. Unfabulous. She also had leading roles in films such as Screaming queens, American Horror Story, Wild Child and Christmas film, Vacation.

But despite her success – and despite being surrounded by so many people in the industry – Emma says people don’t always notice the rejection.

On the Table for Two podcast with Bruce Bozzi, she explained: “That’s what I always talk about – people only really see your successes because they only see you when you’re on the poster of a movie. They don’t see all the rejections along the way.

“That’s why I’m always very open about things I auditioned for and didn’t get the role for.

“I think it’s important to talk about it – otherwise people just think that everything was so great and straightforward and easy, but no, it’s not that at all. But of course it looks that way from the outside or to the naked eye.”

She also explained that she never got a job because of her famous relatives, telling Flaunt, “People have opinions and sometimes they may not be good opinions about people in your family.”

She even said that she had “definitely” lost jobs because of it.

“I never got a job because of it, but I know I definitely lost a few jobs because of it,” she added.
