As Fritz’s girlfriend Morgan Riddle celebrated the win, she had the last word. Riddle appeared to mock Zverev when she posted on her Instagram stories.
“When your man wins the girls,” she wrote, referring to allegations that he assaulted a woman in 2020.
Riddle also wrote in another post: “Cheer loud, girls.”

Zverev settled the domestic violence case after an out-of-court settlement with his former partner, who made the allegations. A German court ended the trial in June. He agreed to pay fines of around $162,000 to the state and around $54,000 to charity.
Prosecutors said Zverev pushed the woman against a wall and choked her during an argument. Zverev protested his innocence.
In the match against Fritz, Zverev was apparently bothered by the cheering from his opponent’s box in the fifth set. “That was a bit exaggerated,” he said.
Zverev also admitted that he was playing with a knee injury.
“I played on one leg,” said Zverev. “It was pretty obvious that I wasn’t at 100% today, wasn’t it? I didn’t move the whole match. I didn’t run to drop shots. When I ran to drop shots, I was limping rather than running.”
