Check out the official Shoobie song (VIDEO)

They are here all summer, blocking driveways, driving slowly in the left lane, and even feeding seagulls on the beach.

They are shoobies – and we can’t live with them or without them.

In case you didn’t know, we locals here in South Jersey call vacationers “shoobies.”

What is a Shoobie?

The term “shoobie” originated many years ago when people from the Philadelphia area often took the train to the beaches of South Jersey.

They packed their lunch in a shoebox – and that led to the nickname Shoobie.

A Shoobie song is born

Our friends at 1 of 1 Songs have put together a song that highlights all things Shoobie.

1 of 1 Songs is a company that offers “unique songs for every occasion” for sale. Their website introduces us to local singers who presumably perform all the songs – but this smacks of AI (artificial intelligence at work). You can find out more about 1 of 1 Songs here.

They previously released a pretty funny song called “Drunk in Margate,” which you can listen to here.

Now they’ve written a pretty funny song in honor of the Shoobies! (One little weird note: they misspelled “Shoobies.” Oh well…)

Here you go, have fun:

Although we like to make fun of shoobies, we recognize their value to those of us who live here in South Jersey.

We just wish they would drive better and behave better…
