Shocking documentary shows horror in the world’s most dangerous theme park, where several people died

A shocking documentary shows the horrific incidents and scenes that took place in the “most dangerous” amusement park in the world and in which several people faced death.

While a young boy was beheaded on a ride in a park in Kansas City, Action Park in New Jersey is also notorious for a series of tragedies.

In summer 2020 Class action park was released in the USA on HBO and tells the story of the infamous water park with its wild attractions.

The documentary receives a near-perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as viewers are horrified by what happened there – and some even recall their own visits to the place, also known as “Traction Park.”

In the 80s and 90s, the Action Park enjoyed great popularity after its opening in 1978 – even though the young staff had to rescue 100 swimmers from the wave pool on the first day.

In the trailer for the documentary, one interviewee explains: “If you can’t swim, well, yuck.”

Class action park is the first feature-length documentary film to explore “the legend, heritage and truth behind a place long ago lost to myth.”

Action Park was intended to be the “most spectacular and entertaining amusement park in the world: a place where rebellious teenagers of the 1980s had free rein to let off steam on strange machines that seemed to defy the laws of common sense (and perhaps physics).”

But in the end it was nothing more than a “poorly thought-out death trap.”

The documentary claims that there were 110 injuries in just one year – including 45 head injuries. This figure is attributed to the availability of alcohol locally.

Class action park is “told from the perspective of children who were there and worked there” and is described as a “black comedy”.

A large portion of the park management team consisted of individuals under the age of 18, and some as young as 14 operated the rides, which was against New Jersey state law.

Six people are known to have died directly from the park’s rides, and one of the main focuses of the film is the death of George Larsson Jr.

The 19-year-old died after a ride on the 828-meter-long Alpine Slide.

Made of concrete, fiberglass and asbestos, the slide consisted of small sleds equipped with a brake/acceleration lever that moved down the slope.

However, Larsson’s brakes were broken, causing his sled to go off the track.

The teenager then fell into an embankment, hit his head on a rock and fell into a coma before dying.

Between 1984 and 1985 alone, the Alpine Slide is said to have been responsible for 26 head injuries.

Class action park has scored a whopping 96 percent on the Tomatometer, with critics calling it “captivating” and “easily justifying the existence of OSH workers.”

One added that “the wave pool has a death zone,” and another wrote, “This nostalgic trip back to the carefree summers of decades past is great fun until you realize that people actually died here.”

Class action park can be streamed on NOW TV.
