Tom Ellis and Richard E. Grant join Netflix’s “Thursday Murder Club”

EXCLUSIVE: Richard E. Grant (Withnail and I), Tom Ellis (Lucifer), Geoff Bell (Kingsman: The Secret Service)Paul Freeman (Hunter of the lost treasure), Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso) and Ingrid Oliver (Doctor Who) join Amblin and Netflix’s film The Thursday Murder Club.

They join a star-studded British ensemble cast including Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.

Filming has begun on the thrilling crime comedy by screenwriter and director Chris Columbus. The film is about a group of friends in a retirement home who meet for fun to solve murders, but suddenly become involved in a real case. The four members of the club are played by Mirren (ex-spy Elizabeth), Kingsley (ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim), Brosnan (former union activist Ron) and Imrie (ex-nurse Joyce).

Producers are Jennifer Todd and Chris Columbus. Executive producers are Holly Bario, Jeb Brody, Eleanor Columbus and Jo Burn. The film is based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Richard Osman.

Osman previously described the film’s cast as “the biggest British cast since (Harry Potter) films.” And he might not be wrong.

Osman is known to millions in the UK as the host of the BBC game show Richard Osman’s House of Games and spent years as a quizmaster at Tagesquiz PointlessHe is known in industry circles for his long-term collaboration with Endemol UK (now part of Banijay UK), where he rose to the position of Creative Director. Big Brother company before leaving in 2020.

The film is the latest film to be produced as part of the film partnership between Netflix and Amblin, which also includes the upcoming Continue with Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton.
