The Hicks and Hayseeds Club met on July 2 at the club advisors’ home. Before the meeting, club members cooked a meal for the Kendall Home. Members also finished their donations for the silent auction. The items donated are: a charcuterie board made of wood, dried flowers and resin, a table runner designed and sewn by members, and two wine glasses decorated with dried flowers. The baskets can be viewed and auctioned all week during the Columbiana County Fair, which begins Monday, July 29.

The meeting began with pledge and roll call, the secretary and treasurer’s report, and old and new business. Sidney Casto, Averie Miller, Cole Wilson, Bryce Wood, and Matthew Hoopes performed demonstrations. Sidney demonstrated to the club the conductivity of milk by placing a battery in a pot of milk and placing a lightbulb in the pot, causing the lightbulb to light up. Averie shared her chocolate truffles recipe and shared it with the group. Cole spoke about the importance of hand washing and demonstrated that germs do not stick to our hands when they are washed. Bryce demonstrated how he bleaches deer skulls. Finally, Matthew told the group how to check the transmission fluid in a vehicle.

The conference ended with snacks and drinks.
