Ivan Taylor, 4-star SAF, moves to Michigan

Winter Garden (Florida) West Orange Four-Star Security Julian Taylor has extended his commitment from Notre Dame to Michigan.

Taylor, the son of former NFL cornerback Ike Taylor, has been committed to the Fighting Irish since December 1, 2023. After an official visit to Ann Arbor in June, Taylor is now a headliner for Sherron Moore and the Wolverines.

The 1.85 m tall and 82 kg player is the 58th candidate and the 6th safety in the 2025 cycle, according to On3 Industry Rankinga weighted average that takes into account all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 player in Florida.

Second coach of the Wolverines Lamar Morgan led Michigan’s charge to transfer Taylor. It’s always a challenge to attract a Notre Dame player to campus, but UM was able to show the elite defensive back that he is a top priority for the Big Ten program.

Taylor is the second top-100 prospect to be inducted into Michigan’s class of 2025, alongside four-star defensive lineman Fenwick from Oak Park, Illinois Nate Marshall. Montgomery Village (Md.) Gonzaga Four-Star Security Winston-Kainoa is at the very outside and ranks 101st overall.

Wolverines aim for top-10 recruiting class

The signing of Taylor gave Michigan a big boost in the On3 Industry Team Recruitment Rankingsas it jumped five places and is now ranked 12th nationwide.

More good news could be on the way for the Wolverines as well. Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh Top-100 Tight End Andrew Olesh is expected to announce its decision on Monday evening and UM is trending strongly in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Michigan’s class now includes 11 four-star commitments, including Savannah (Ga.) IMG Academy four-star running back Donovan JohnsonPalatine (Illinois), four-star defensive player Jaylen Williams and four-star wide receiver Archbishop Shaw from New Orleans Jacob Washington.
