“It’s a matter of life or death”: Shepherd’s House urgently requests donations of bottled water

(Update: Video added, property manager’s comments)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — As temperatures in Central Oregon rise above 100 degrees in the coming days and are expected to stay above 95 degrees through the weekend, many men, women and children living on the streets are at risk of severe dehydration and other dangerous health risks.

To meet this urgent need, Shepherd’s House Ministries is urgently requesting donations of water bottles (cases or pallets of individual bottles) to help alleviate the current shortage. Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated.

Officials say they are handing out water bottles as they arrive in stores – 15 to 20 bottles last week. When the bottles run out, workers will refill whatever they can find with tap water.

“With our temperatures currently rising above 38 degrees, this is a matter of life and death,” House Speaker Stephen Piercey said on Monday – “especially when many of the people who use our services do not have access to water nearby or do not have drinking water.”

How to donate:
Drop off water donations at our Division Street location:
– Opening hours: Monday – Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
– Address: 1854 NE Division Street, Bend

In addition, donations can be made to the following address:
– Address: 1350 S Hwy 97, Redmond

The generosity of the community can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need during this difficult time.
