On July 6, the Colombian national team achieved a stunning 5-0 victory over Panama in the quarterfinals of the Conmebol Copa América 2024.
Now the Colombian team will face Uruguay on July 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a spot in the final and a chance to win the men’s soccer championship.
Throughout this journey and throughout the history of Colombian football, music has been a constant source of inspiration for the team and its fans. Inspired by this great triumph, we present five emblematic songs to cheer on the national team in the next phase.
Although countless songs have been dedicated to the Colombian tricolor over the years, some odes have remained in the memory of the fans of the Colombian team and have become timeless hits that they cheer at every match.
The list includes the official anthem of the Copa América 2024: “El Ritmo Que Nos Une” by Ryan Castro with SOG and the Colombian national team. In fact, two of the players, striker Luis Diaz and midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero, make their debut in the song by rapping some lines, something never seen before. In addition, the entire team can be seen in the music video.
Other favourites are the so-called second Colombian anthem, the cumbia “Colombia Tierra Querida” by Lucho Bermudez, and the Salsa chokehold “Ras Tas Tas”, which became popular during the 2014 World Cup and is now here to stay.
Here we recommend five songs to celebrate the Colombian national football team:
-
Cali Flow Latino, “Ras Tas Tas Full HD”
“Dice ras tas tas tas, tas tas tas/ Gol Dice from Colombia” is part of the text of this infectious Salsa chokeholdwhich became one of the national team’s signature songs during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, when players celebrated their goals by dancing to the rhythm of the song.
-
Carlos Vives, “Million Songs”
“I sing for life that gives me another morning/ I sing for the people who go out on the field/ I sing for my team that fills me with hope/ For the jersey that I carry in my soul,” Carlos Vives sings in Spanish from this 2014 football anthem. The superstar recently shared a video of the song on his social media in honor of the Colombian tricolor of the 2024 Copa America.
-
Francisco Zumaqué, “Colombia Caribbean”
“Yes, yes, Colombia. yes, yes, Caribbean”These are the lyrics of the flagship song of this national football team, written and sung by Francisco Zumaqué. The anthem was released in 1985 and has produced several versions, the most popular being the version by the Orquesta Guayacán and the football version “Si si Colombia” by Zumaqué.
-
La Orquesta de Ray, “Colombia Tierra Querida”
This cumbia, written by Lucho Bermúdez and first performed in 1970, is considered the second national anthem that enchants all Colombians, no matter where they are in the world. The song has several versions, including that of Juan Carlos Coronel (1994) and that of La Orquesta de Ray (1990), and is used both at home and in the media as a celebratory theme when the national team scores a goal.
-
Ryan Castro, SOG and Selección Colombia, “The Rhythm We Have”
Colombia’s official song for the Copa América 2024 is sung by Ryan Castro (aka El Cantante del Ghetto) along with SOG and with the special participation of two players of the national team: Luis Diaz and Juan Fernando Quintero, who rap some verses. The music video for the rousing song shows the Colombian national team squad for this tournament at a football party.
