MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Monday, the Marquette Junior Yacht Club will host its sailing lesson series at the Marquette Marina from now through August. These classes cost $200 for 5 lessons for children ages 8 to 18 and will teach the fundamentals of sailing.

This nonprofit organization has been training youth for 15 years. Each year the program has grown to the point that 80 students have enrolled this year, the organizer said. This course strives to create a lesson plan that youth can build upon depending on the class and level.

“Maybe they just want to do hands-on things and we could show them videos and demonstrate it to them, but I really like that everyone who takes part in our program has a unique way of learning and it’s fun,” said Rah Torst, director of the Junior Yacht Club of Marquette.

These courses will take place every weekday until August 2nd. For more information or to register, visit the youth sailing course website or the Marquette Junior Yacht Club website.
