OCPS wants parents to register in the Transportation Services portal

OCPS wants parents to register in the Transportation Services portal

From Orange County Public Schools

Public school transportation plays a critical role in ensuring equal access to education for all students regardless of their socioeconomic background or proximity to school. By providing reliable and safe transportation services, public schools help ensure that students can attend school regularly and participate in extracurricular activities, contributing to their overall academic success and well-being. In addition, public school transportation also relieves traffic congestion and reduces environmental impact by encouraging the use of shared transportation resources.

Orange County Public Schools is currently seeking assistance from families who wish to utilize transportation services for the 2024-2025 school year. To best prepare for the most efficient route planning, the transportation service is asking families to register their intentions with the district. Families can access their Skyward Parent Portal account today and complete the OCPS School Bus Registration Form. If families are having trouble accessing their Skyward account, they should contact their assigned school for assistance.

The form includes a drop-down menu where you can select for each child whether they want to ride the bus in the morning, afternoon, both, or not at all. This allows the transportation service to assign and balance routes throughout the district before school starts. This registration is only for families who are eligible for the bus service.

While the district has attempted to fill as many positions as possible, there is still a statewide shortage of professional drivers and OCPS continues to be impacted. The purpose of this registration is to reduce bus delays and allow for optimization of routes to meet the transportation needs of our families.
