Papillion Junior Woman’s Club hosts Garden Walk

Employee report

Join the Papillion Junior Woman’s Club for the fifth annual Garden Walk. This year’s walk includes three enchanting private gardens and a stunning public butterfly garden. All proceeds benefit the Neighborgood Community Pantry and participants are asked to bring nonperishable food items or monetary donations to any of the gardens.

The locations for the walk include:

In Linda and Rudy’s garden, you’ll be greeted by a colorful display of mixed annuals and perennials. Patriotic 4th of July figurines decorate the front porch, while the side garden offers a peaceful memorial spot with an arbor, angel and trellis. The shady backyard showcases cream-colored hydrangeas contrasted by deep orange jewelweeds and perfect climbing trees for children.

Joyce and Ron’s garden is a delightful mix of cottage, butterfly and country styles. Verbena grows alongside milkweed, and tomatoes, parsley and dill mingle among the flowers. The garden is a riot of colour, full of butterflies and bees, and occasionally visited by hungry rabbits. This spring, young wrens, blackbirds and turtle doves have taken up residence here.

Al and Debbie’s garden is a charming, old-fashioned retreat. A large, ornate orange butterfly greets you near the front door and leads you to a wall of hollyhocks and tiger lilies. The garden is a certified wildlife habitat with unique birdhouses and stunning artwork by Al, a renowned local artist who specializes in backyard sculptures and bird and butterfly photography.

The Butterfly Garden in Vets Park (Monroe Street and Halleck Street)

Now in its fourth year, the Butterfly Garden at Vets Park is thriving and, thanks to an Eagle Scout project, now features two birdhouses and a bee hotel. Birds, butterflies and bees thrive here. Nearby you’ll find the Blue Star Memorial Garden, Gold Star Memorial Garden and the newly added Purple Heart Memorial Garden, all of which exude a spirit of patriotism and natural beauty.

Don’t miss the chance to explore these beautiful gardens while supporting a good cause.
