Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend Morgan Riddle goes viral at Wimbledon

Welcome the new top couple in American tennis: Taylor Fritz and girlfriend Morgan Riddle.

While Fritz, the world’s top US tennis player, was busy beating Alexander Zverev (4-6, 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-3) in the fourth round of the Wimbledon tournament, in the stands his girlfriend Riddle, dubbed “the most famous woman in men’s tennis,” was shooting up the Google Trends charts after ESPN’s cameras ensured the blonde model got plenty of airtime on TV.

Social media experts are calling it the biggest hit of Fritz’s career. It might also be the biggest content hit of Riddle’s career, even though she has 314,000 Instagram fans and 500,000 TikTok fans.

Riddle is expected to get plenty of airtime on ESPN at noon on Wednesday when Fritz faces Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals. No U.S. man has made it to the semifinals of Wimbledon since 2018, when John Isner lost to Kevin Anderson. The last time an American won Wimbledon was in 2000, when Pete Sampras won his 7th title on grass.

The moment and its significance for American tennis definitely didn’t go unnoticed by Riddle. In a 2022 TikTok video, the influencer said she was on a mission to “make tennis cool again,” adding, “I know tennis is relatively uncool and unknown in America.”

All in all, Wednesday could be the moment when Riddle declares “mission accomplished” if Fritz overcomes this hurdle and advances to the Wimbledon semifinals.
