Which live-action version of DC’s Penguin do you prefer?

There’s no questioning Colin Farrell’s portrayal of the iconic Batman villain. The Irish actor almost outdid himself in The Batman (2022). But as a super dedicated fan of the long-running Gotham series that premiered on Fox nearly ten years ago (I actually can’t believe it’s been that long), there’s not going to be anyone like Robin Lord Taylor. I know he’s not portraying a comic book-accurate version, but he’s got that power-hungry, raging criminal look 100% down. If you’re looking for a version straight out of the DC comics, Danny Devito’s Batman Returns (1992) is for you. There’s also Burgess Meredith from the 1966 live-action Batman film, but that’s just too cheesy for me. Who do you prefer? Let us know below.

Is Bojack Horseman the most depressing TV show of all time?

Against all odds, the animated series Bojack Horseman has delivered one emotional punch after another over six seasons of trauma and loss. The show is undeniably hilarious, but behind every clever pun or creative gag, there’s another devastating twist waiting. I know more than one person who has told me they can’t watch the show because it can induce a deep sense of hopelessness. There must be other, more depressing TV shows, but I can’t think of any. What about you?

Which TV show is the most hyped?

In my opinion, it’s absolutely Euphoria. After seeing everyone everywhere talking about it (at once), I thought it was worth a try, but I couldn’t really get into it. There’s some great talent in the cast (Zendaya and Hunter Schafer are incredible), but that’s not enough to save it from the poor script. While I think Sam Levinson clearly has a great eye for visual effects, his original script can’t match that level of skill. I just couldn’t handle the dialogue and story, it all seemed too outlandish to me, and not in a good way. What do you think?

How did the Battle of Rook’s Rest in the House of the Dragon compare to what we saw in Game of Thrones?

Halfway through the second season of House of the Dragon, we finally have our first major battle, which lasts about half the episode. But how did the Battle at Rook’s Rest compare to what we saw in Game of Thrones? In this series, we had episodes like Blackwater, The Watchers on the Wall, Battle of the Bastards, and The Spoils of War, to name a few. Right now, the episode has a rating of 9.7/10 on IMDb, the same score as Blackwater and The Spoils of War, higher than The Watchers on the Wall, and slightly lower than Battle of the Bastards. I think that’s a pretty fair rating, since we’ve been waiting a season and a half for dragon fights during a real battle, and now we finally got it. On top of that, the episode featured the death of a major character and moved the plot along quite a bit. This was arguably the best episode of House of the Dragon so far, so what did you think of “The Red Dragon and the Gold”?

Which TV show do you constantly quote?

When I sit back and think about it, I’m surprised at how often I find myself repeating phrases like “There’s always money at the banana stand” or “…you?” or even “I’m afraid I’m making a bad accusation right now.” Suffice it to say, Arrested Development is a show that has crept into the deepest recesses of my consciousness. Of course, there are other shows full of iconic sayings that I use every day in surprising scenarios. If the words “bears, beats, Battlestar Galactica” or “Identity theft is no joke, Jim” mean anything to you, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. Which show do you often quote in your everyday life?

What is your favorite parody movie?

When I first saw Spaceballs, I seriously thought I was going to die laughing. Of course, I was 8 years old, so I was experiencing a lot of things for the first time. Still, it’s one of my favorite movies, and I can quote quite a few from it by heart. And that’s despite the fact that most of the material relies on prior knowledge of the Star Wars franchise. Such is the nature of a parody. Scream on its own masterfully lampooned the ongoing excesses of horror films, then Scary Movie pushed Scream’s premise to its most ridiculous limits, managing to score 4 sequels and endless spin-offs. Austin Powers is as famous a cinematic secret agent as James Bond. The best parodies stick in our minds as much as the films they copy. What’s your favorite parody movie?
