Meghan Trainor wrote her wedding song within a month of meeting Daryl Sabara

Meghan Trainor and husband Daryl Sabara fell in love quickly and deeply.

Appears on July 8th in the episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert In a podcast, the 30-year-old singer of “All About That Bass” revealed that she and 32-year-old Sabara knew they were “in love” after just six days together.

“We were like Velcro. The first day I thought, ‘You’ll never leave me.’ By the sixth day we were in love,” she recalls.

Within weeks, Trainor was already thinking about marriage. “In the first month, I wrote our wedding song that we walked down the aisle to,” she continued, adding jokingly, “Yeah, we’re gross.”

After Shepard, 49, said he was “proud” of Trainor for dating her now-husband for “a couple of years” despite developing “very different” feelings for Sabara in just six days, the Grammy winner responded, “We stretched it out as long as we could, up to a year and a half (before we got married).”

“Just to make everyone else happy,” she explained. “I literally called my mom. I asked her, ‘When can he propose to me without people judging us?'”

Trainor and Sabara – who went on their first date in July 2016 after being set up by mutual friend Chloë Grace Moretz – got engaged in December 2017. A year later – just two days before Christmas and on her 25th birthday – they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the backyard of their Los Angeles home.

In February 2021, they became a family of three when they welcomed their first child, a son named Riley. Their son Barry joined the crew in July 2023.

When the couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in December 2022, Trainor wrote a touching tribute to the Spy Kids Star on Instagram, saying she is “in that honeymoon phase forever” with her husband.

“4 years of marriage to my favorite person ever. I’m still in that honeymoon phase. Thank you for making me laugh so much, for always making me feel SO loved and for being the best life partner ever,” she captioned a series of photos of the couple posing together and with their son Riley.

“Ever since we met on day six and said ‘I love you’ and texted you ‘Marry me’ after the first month, I always knew it was you,” she added.

In his own anniversary post, Sabara wrote to Trainor: “To the love of my life @meghantrainor… My best life began when I met you. I can’t believe I got so lucky with the sweetest, funniest, most beautiful, most talented woman in the world.”

In an interview with PEOPLE in March, the couple opened up about how important it is to them to spend time together as they juggle their careers and busy family lives with raising two young children. The actor said he loves when the day is over and he and his wife can relax together in the evenings.

“The thing is, once we get the kids to bed, it’s our time,” Sabara explained, to which Trainor interjected, “Date night! Every night is date night!”
