The pop icon’s family is facing another legal battle over the deceased singer’s estate

A lengthy legal dispute over the estate of the late singer Prince seemed to have come to an end some time ago.

However, it seems that another one has just been launched.

Rolling Stone reports that a lawsuit was filed in January against four members of Prince’s family over an LLC created in 2022 to manage the 50 percent stake they owned in the icon’s estate.

ABC News explains that this lawsuit was filed by Prince’s former attorney and business advisor, L. Londell McMillan and Charles Spicer Jr. The two claim that an agreement to replace them as directors of the company founded by three of the siblings – Prince Legacy LLC – is invalid.

The same Rolling Stone article further reports that a judge in Delaware last Friday rejected the heirs’ attempt to dismiss the lawsuit.

Chancellor Kathaleen St. Judge McCormick wrote that the original agreement between the two and the siblings was clear, barring the siblings’ attempts to change it, according to ABC News. So the contract remains in effect, and McMillan and Spicer’s positions as managing members remain intact.

According to a 2016 Rolling Stone report, Prince – full name Prince Rogers Nelson – died in April 2016 without leaving a will, sparking a six-year feud among the musician’s half-siblings.

The Minnesota First Judicial District eventually ordered that the estate’s cash holdings – then valued at $156 million – be divided equally among them, CNN Entertainment explained at the time.

Further information on this latest lawsuit is pending.
