A woman’s heartfelt reminder to love our bodies as they are is wonderfully reassuring

When it comes to physical appearance, we often ignore many aspects of ourselves. The goal is often to be like someone else or to be different than we are. A young woman named Grace has eloquently reminded people why they need to accept their bodies as they are. She has highlighted how much of our lives we spend wishing we were different and failing to realise how wonderful and unique we already are. Focusing on body image, Grace goes through the different ages of life and explains how we don’t learn to love our bodies until it’s too late.

Starting with the teenage years, when most body stereotypes develop, Grace said, “At 12, you wanted a smaller stomach, less body hair, or thinner thighs.” And then, at the inexperienced age of 16, when bodies are changing, Grace said people still yearn for more rather than appreciating what they have. She said, “At 16, you wanted a smaller waist, a bigger butt, or a smaller nose.” At 26, Grace said, self-acceptance still falls short because of the delusional effort to look “perfect.” “At 26, you wanted tighter skin, your teenage body back, and to be less flabby,” she noted.

With each glance, Grace beautifully portrayed the way we stare hesitantly into the mirror. She portrayed the way we look at ourselves with doubt and dissatisfaction simply because the world relentlessly imposes unrealistic standards on us. At 30, Grace says, some people realize how much they loved their younger selves but still fail to appreciate themselves for who they are. “When you turn 30, you’ll realize how sweet you were at 26. When you’re 40, you’ll wonder why you ever thought you weren’t beautiful at 30,” Grace recalls.

“When you’re 50, all you want is for your joint pain to go away,” Grace added. While we complain and want everything other than what we have, we miss out on admiring the present. It’s only in the later stages of life that you realise everything was great and we just didn’t manage to enjoy it. “When you’re 80, you realise you regretted every time you looked at your body,” she exclaimed. The body is constantly changing and it’s up to us to appreciate it at each stage before it’s too late. Grace wrote an even more insightful caption: “Life is too short to spend it hating yourself.”

She added in the captions: “If you were dying, would your last wish be to spend more time hating yourself when you look in the mirror? No! Then why waste so much of your life on earth doing that?” People were blown away by the realisation and got a reality check about what a muse they are. @siobhanjamesx wrote: “This actually made me cry. I’ve spent my whole life trying to be thinner.” @sariouardi added: “We should be kind to our bodies and always appreciate ourselves.” @laurawallace777 remarked: “This really gives you something to think about.” @kinga_balogh exclaimed: “Live for all the beautiful moments with your body!”
