Leisure returns with new song “Oh Why” feat. Two Another

Last Friday, Auckland soul/electronic band Leisure released their latest single, “Oh Why,” which features Two Another. It is the band’s first new music since their fourth studio album. Leisure visionwas released in fall 2023.

“Oh Why” is Leisure’s tribute to the human desire for connection and authenticity. The band explains: “The song is about indecision in the early stages of a relationship, about the question ‘Should I stay or should I go?’ The down-toned ‘Give me life, everlasting love’ seems like an inner monologue of longing for something real that will last.”

Originally conceived in a session in Australia and travelling the world between New Zealand and Europe before finding full traction, the moody new single was originally conceived with Two Another’s long-time collaborators, bassist Jarrol Renaud and keyboardist Danny Pliner, who add: “The track had a relaxed, soulful vibe from the start that could only be brought to life with the right vocals. We never came up with the right idea, but when we spoke to Leisure about a possible collaboration, this idea immediately came to mind.”

Leisure time is expanding,”Two Another was a name that had been popping up alongside our own since the early Soundcloud days. We were fans and had noticed a cross-pollination within our fanbases. When they approached us with the idea of working on something, we didn’t hesitate and the ideas went back and forth with ease. ‘Oh Why’ came about when we first went through a folder of the instrumental ideas they had sent us. The bass almost spoke to us; faces twisted, heads nodded as the melodies began to flow.”
