Date set for non-jury trial in Serenata Beach Club foreclosure case

PONTE-VEDRA BEACH, Florida. – Following a court hearing on the impending foreclosure of the Serenata Beach Club, a non-jury trial has been set for July 18.

The private beach club on South Ponte Vedra Beach has been in the spotlight over the past year due to a series of financial problems that led to temporary closures.

Due to a lack of liquidity, club members had no access to facilities and employees received no salary.

DLP Lending Fund is now seeking over $8.5 million in the foreclosure action.

In February, a judge denied a motion by the beach club owners to dismiss the foreclosure suit.

Facing foreclosure, the beach club’s management announced policy changes in late March that will require members to spend more money on amenities previously included in their membership.

These changes include:

  • A minimum monthly spend of $250

  • $5 rental fee for deck chairs and umbrellas

  • $40 monthly fee for access to fitness classes

  • No outside food or drinks are permitted on the club premises, including the beach.

  • Increased prices for new members

Members told News4JAX they were skeptical of the new policies given the threat of foreclosure and the club’s abrupt closures in recent months.

The new guidelines came into force on April 1.

The non-jury trial is scheduled for July 18 at 1:30 p.m.
